Why religion is bad
Not that I have anything against God, Allah or Oprah, but religion has always been the number one reason for wars and infighting among humans (the worst species on the planet to begin with.) The reason for this is that religions are a man made thing--ethereal beings can't hold a pencil or type. Man has taken it upon himself to "interpret" what the All Powerful supposedly said. Even when there were no witnesses, or the press, around to hear it. And don't even get me started on this "faith" thing. (Your check is in the mail. Have faith!)
If Jesus were to actually come back--and leave the tropical planet where he drinks gin & tonics on a beach and watches us fuck things up--he would smite the hell out of a major percentage of the people. He would probably begin the smoting with Pat Robertson. Missionaries would be in for a good smoting, too. I live in an area of the Amazon where the population is mostly indigenous people and I have seen the results of missionary work (i.e. brain washing) and have met a number of missionaries. These are people who actually have so little faith that they feel the need to impose their will (in God's name, of course) on other people. They bribe these uneducated people with pots & pans, machetes, etc. to get them to come listen. Some of the evangelical missionaries (a group that does battle with the Catholics) have actually come out and said that the Pope is the Devil. Well, OK, maybe they got that one right. One Catholic Church in a small village has medicines on hand for people who can't afford to buy them, but the catch is you have to attend Mass five consecutive days in able to be elegible for the medicines.
So, religion has blighted our species and now things are made worse by the two major fanatical religious groups: the Islamic fundamentalists (who don't really follow the teachings of Islam) and the Bush administration (who don't really follow the teachings of Jesus.)
God help us all.

Let's see if anybody out there is paying attention and can be irritated and goaded into responding.
1 - Baseball: The DH should be eliminated, pitchers should have to not only throw and field their positions, but hit as well (at least be able to lay down a bunt.)
2 - Music: A) There has never been a better electric guitar player than Stevie Ray Vaughn. Am willing to accept the fact that he may have a few equals, i.e. Clapton. B) Shakira is the sexiest woman on the planet and has one of the finest voices around.
3 - US Government: A) Bush is worse than Nixon and will get us all killed. B) The "war"on drugs is an expensive joke and was lost from day one. Anybody who ever took Economics 101 knows where there is demand there will be supply. Didn't they learn anything from prohibition? It has never occured to the gov to understand why people do drugs and deal with it from that stand point.
4 - Porno: Have your attention now, don't I?
5 - Religion: Religion is worse than Nixon and will get us all killed. Pat Robertson should have his mouth sewn shut.
